Domaine Olivier Hillaire Cotes du Rhone 2008

For everyday consumption, my go-to wines are southern French wines in general and Cotes du Rhone  in particular.  The flavors just seem to go well with the food I put on the table.

I ran across Domaine Olivier Hillaire Cotes du Rhone Vieilles Vignes 2008 a couple of weeks ago.  The importer, Alain Jungeunet, has been around for many years, but I’d not seen this wine before.

Pure red fruits and cherry cola dominate the bouquet.  On the palate, it’s medium bodied and nicely balanced with fresh fruit flavors.  Peppery notes and tannins on the mid palate are followed by a decent finish.  This is worth seeking out.  About $14.00.  Imported by Alain Junguenet, Wines of France, Mountainside NJ.
